The fact that it's manual forces you to consider your distance to the subject and the output settings on the flash. I shoot weddings and in a pinch I would 100% throw this flash on my camera if my main flash went down. For portraits you can't go wrong. I already have several Pocket Wizard plus triggers and this combo works like a charm. For the value of your money you can't go wrong. The power in these little guys is amazing considering the price and yes they are built tough. I have dropped them and they still keep working.

A great flash for the price. I'm not a beginner, but do photography more as a hobby for some occasional money on the side and don't have my own professional business, so I love this flash. It does great in whatever lighting I've tested it in so far, both outside and inside. It's easy to learn and easy to adjust on the fly if it's not bright enough or too bright. The only downside I've found is that it wobbles quite a bit on top of my camera, which makes me nervous. Other than that, it is wonderful and don't plan on upgrading any time soon!

With photography gear as expensive as it is, I was really excited at how well this worked for such a low price. I shot an indoor wedding with it a few weeks ago and it helped with the lighting so much. It reflected off of the wall well and has a ton of rotation so I could turn take a verical image and still have the flash pointing at the ceiling. Definitely get a diffuser for it though so the flash isn't as intense and the the light is a little softer.

This is a must have beginner flash. The package came with a nice protective bag to keep it in and a stand for the flash when you want to use an off camera system. It’s brighter than the built in flash but has power settings for situations where you want to get it closer to the subject without loosing shutter sync.

Taking into consideration the price, this product is out of this world, AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! This gave me such perfect lighting, it was easy to install and the quality was beyond the price of the item. The only downside I can give is that if you want to take multiple pictures in a row, occasionaly the flash won't go off. This may be the case for other external flashes as well though. Either way, I can't complain and I would definitely recommend this to anyone!
